New River Beach, New Brunswick

Address 78 New River Beach road. https://parcsnbparks.ca/

From Fredericton take the Trans-Canada highway east towards Oromocto/ Moncton. Take 7 south towards Saint John, to exit 97 where you will merge onto New Brunswick Route 1 W/NB-1 W toward Lorneville/Saint Stephen for 26 kms. Then take exit 86 towards Lepreau. You will pass Lepreau Falls Provincial Park, New Brunswick– make sure to stop, it is a lovely spot. Continue for another 5 kms on 175 and you will see a big sign for New River Beach Provincial Park. Turn left onto Hagerty Cove Road and then right onto New River Beach Road. If you want to explore the hiking around Barnaby Head, continue down Hagerty Cove Road and access the beach from Dowd Road parking lot.

Considered the best beach on the Bay of Fundy, its soft sand goes on forever, especially at low tide. The unsupervised salt water beach has a children’s playground, volleyball court, a restaurant and washroom facilities and change rooms.

When: May to October. Check the weather in the area, coastal conditions can be greatly different from the interior of the province. Fog is common. Pleasant breezes if you are looking to escape the heat. Water quality is variable, check weekly from May 15th to September 7th.

Fee: $8.00 to access the beach.

Happy fun in the sun from Maritime Mac
