Mispec beach, New Brunswick

My most popular post is The Cuts Quarry; A Swimming Hole Secret. In spite of all my hiking, camping, historic site seeking and the art finds that I write about, in the heat of the summer people just want to be where they can cool off. I understand completely so here is another great New Brunswick beach on the Bay of Fundy.

Mispec is a beautiful long sandy beach Just 15 minutes from downtown Saint John, New Brunswick on the Red Head Road. ( Map below) There are well maintained stairs with good hand rails for people with mobility issues, however, they are a bit steep. You can still enjoy the sea breeze from the above grassy area if you don’t wish to tackle the stairs, just bring a blanket or chair. There is also a playground area to keep the kids entertained.

There is ample parking, clean washrooms and changing trailers, and the beach is open dawn-to-dusk daily, however there is no lifeguard on site. In Maritime Mac style, there are also walking trails and the beach has a history of being a long time military recreation area. Not far is the Williams Trail and Cape Spencer Lighthouse- more to follow on that post.

    1. Yes, I can’t imagine. We’ve been fortunate in NB, covid has been kind of a none event. I mean we social distancing wear masks and limit occupancy but life has been unlocked since last july. Except on Quebec border Edmunston was locked down for April, but rest of the province was free.. i hope this passes soon.
